Who is the greatest opera tenor in history? Whay makes him better than the others?

Pavarotti, Correlli, Bjoerling, Caruso, Bergonzi, DiStefano, Gigli, Lanza, or someone else??

Well, I will have to go with Luciano Pavarotti. He is considerably one of the best if not the best tenor from the 60's through the 90's. When he sings, his voice level can exceed very high. While managing to have quiet an elegant voice for a man I must say, he has also managed to keep his voice with longevity over the years which most will say gives him a younger voice well beyond his years. Luciano has also mastered the longevity of a career in itself having been a tenor for almost four decades while also still giving off his magnificent high and low variations to his capabilities.

I would have to say it was the Great Mario Lanza...he had such an outstanding, powerful voice...apparently (not sure if this is true), doctors/scientists actually studied his vocal chords after he died to see if there was anything remarkable that distinguished his voice from others.

In present time, Andre Bocelli has now surpassed Pavarotti due to his versatility in the ability to sing modern songs with such clarity. Give my eye teeth to hear either live!
