I am from india/punjab and using opera mini with bsnl and airtel gprs networks and it works very fine. Wat error are u getting. Also check if you got the correct version for your phone. Open http://mini.opera.com using your phone's wap browser, they will either detect your browser and show you the correct download link or you can manually choose.
