What is the migny opera hotel like in paris?

My 14yr old daughter is there on a school trip. I have read reviews on trip advisor and I am not impressed. Has anybody stayed there and what was it like.

Just out of curiosity I read the reviews you have reference to. I notice that one person who thinks its just a "terrible hotel" has this to say "The breakfast if thats what you can call it, was 1 piece of french stick and 1 croissante and cup of black sludge they said was coffee."

Guess what? This person is a moron.

They are used to drinking the watery brown substance Les Anglais call coffee (or tea..sometimes its hard to tell) and having eggs, bacon and baked beans for breakfast. It never once occurred to them that things are different in France.

Be that as it may, I would not have booked a school trip with young teenagers into this hotel. It is, in fact, surrounded by sleazy sex shops and clip joints and there are prostitutes cruising the area.

Even worse, the aforementioned "atttractions" bring hordes of drunken louts to the area (like the ones who complained that the hotel charged them for trashing the room).

Whomever was organizing this trip clearly wasn't qualified to do so.

I have not stayed there. However the rating is fair. There was only one disgruntled traveller and judging by the picture, it is minor....

If you have been to Paris, this hotel appears to be typical of the middle of the road, travellers hotels. If we want to stay inexpensively, in North America we would stay some place like a Red Roof, Hotel 8 or Holiday Inn Express. This is the Parisian version of that type of hotel. She will be fine. In fact she will have a wonderful time. Montmartre is a wonderful, historically artistic section of the city. I would stay in that hotel. No problem. Don't worry Mom!

Looking at the pictures on the website with my husband just now....we think it is quite charming! We would stay there no problem. We have different standards of what seems to be okay in North America. This is "Paris", charming, stylish, not necessarily expensive but with some style and panache. Lovely little boutique hotel. Stay calm Mom...it is European style...
Read reviews as well on French sites, seems to be an average middling hotel with ups and down. Most people complained about the noisy street.

The hotel is in a back street, 300m away from Pigalle and away from the noise and red district partying, so not as bad an area as that, there's not complaint about that in the sites I checked. But still I agree with Rillifane, this is not a area where I would have chosen to book rooms for 14 years old.
