Is Phantom of the Opera a hard book to read?

I've been wanting to read the book and I was wondering if the book is difficult to follow and understand? I read a lot of hard books but this book was written a looooong time ago right? might the wording of the book confuse me?

It is kind of a different book only because like you said, the book was written a long time ago and the words are more complex and the sentences are different but its actually not that hard and once you get into it, that doesn't make a difference. I highly suggest you read this book, its beautiful and sad...poor Erik! I hope you decide to read it and that you love it!

Try singing it instead.

#The phantom of the opera is here inside your mind, your mind, your mind do do di di #
The original novel, Le Fant?me de l鈥橭p茅ra, was written in French in 1911 by Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialization from Sept. 1909 to Jan. 1910 and not well received at the time. It was translated to English in 1911. It might be a little difficult for you to read, but its obviously a good story and might be worth the effort.
When reading classics like Phantom of the Opera, EVERYONE starts off having a hard time, so many difficult words and all fancy talk.

I started reading classics when i was 14, and it literally took me a whole year to finish Tess of the D'ubervilles (I was REALLY taking it in word-for-word); but after that, i got familiarized with the "classic" language, and my vocabulary boosted dramaticaly. Trust me, it's only hard the first time.

But, if you still prefer it easy, I suggest you look for an edited/abridged version of the novel, they're usually simplified and less complicated
No it is very staight forward, it is very intense! I loved it, and I have read it 3 times. It is also very fast moving once it really gets started.
no no its an easy read. its a great story. you should definitely read it. my school had us read it in 6th grade... so im sure you won't have trouble with it.
