Jason Cook was the old Shawn. He had been considering leaving for quite some time. He had renewed his contract as an open contract where he could pursue other projects. He is working on a movie and this year decided to part ways with Days of Our Lives. He wasn't the only one who left. The actress who played Jennifer quit, the guy who played Jack was released of his contract, Austin and Carrie are being written out of the show, and Farah Fath who plays Mimi also quit. Since the character of Shawn Douglas is such an important part of the show, they had to recast him. I agree that Jason Cook is better looking, but this Shawn can actually act pretty well.

Yeah man! Why did they change him?! And I know that it's ancient history but why did they change Belle?! The new chick looks weird! It was something about the actress was getting tired of playing the same thing over and over again!

From what I read Jason Cook's contract was up and he decided to not renew it. I really don't care for the new guy at all. From behind he reminds me of the old Shawn but once he turned around and started talking I saw a difference. I don't care for the new guy at all. My hub just laughs at me when I say I don't like the new Shawn. As for the new Belle, she's grown on me. When they first replaced Belle I didn't like that girl, but the current one has grown on me. As for the original Belle, she's now on General Hospial.
